Research on Co-Channel Interference Cancellation for Underwater Acoustic MIMO Communications

Multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems utilize multiple transmitters to send different pieces of information in parallel. This offers a promising way communicate at high data rate over bandwidth-limited underwater acoustic channels. However, MIMO not only suffers from serious inter-symbol interference, but also critical co-channel interference (CoI), both which degrade the performance. In this paper, we propose new framework for communications. The proposed consists CoI-cancellation-based channel estimation method and channel-estimation-based decision feedback equalizer (CE-DFE) with CoI cancellation functionalities communication. We introduce model that projects received signal specific subspace where is free; therefore, cancelled. CE-DFE by appending some filters traditional CE-DFE. addition, direct adaptive equalization (DA-DFE) are compared terms performance computational complexity. Finally, sea trial experiment demonstrates effectiveness merits method. achieves more than 1 dB output SNR DA-DFE, less sensitive parameters. provides approach design robust MODEM.
